North Field Expedition 42

The North Field Expedition 42 is a no-frills field watch built around a robust automatic movement and a 42mm bead-blasted 316L stainless case. The matte non-reflective finish is the same surface treatment used on the Diver Pro 44 — chosen for its ability to absorb light rather than throw it back at the wearer on a glacier or open ridge. A fixed steel bezel and a thick sapphire crystal sit flush with the case shoulders, so there is nothing to snag on a pack strap or rope.

The Swiss automatic movement is reliable, serviceable, and shock-protected, with 50 hours of power reserve and hacking seconds. Water resistance is 100m. The 24-hour inner track and broad luminous numerals are the dial layout North Field has used on expedition watches since the brand's first multi-day traverse kits — readable in low light, by feel through gloves, and against snow glare.
