About Aspen & Vale

Aspen & Vale opened on Newbury Street in 2008 with a single counter, a borrowed safe, and twelve watches. Our first sale was a steel field watch to a man buying it for his daughter's college graduation. He came back six months later for an anniversary band. We've been here ever since.

We're family-owned, and we've stayed small on purpose. From the start, the idea was to carry fewer brands and know each one deeply — fewer cases on the floor, more depth behind every piece. It takes time to learn a maker's lineage, the choices behind a movement, the reason a setting reads a particular way in the light. We'd rather be able to explain why one piece exists rather than another than fill a room with options nobody can speak to.

The brands we carry

We work with five houses, and we chose each one for a reason. Hadley & Finch has been making watches since 1923, and their hand-finished cases and classical proportions still feel right a hundred years on. Saor Diamonds is a modern diamond house — conflict-free stones in contemporary settings, with engagement rings, studs, and pendants we're happy to put our name behind. North Field builds sport and dive watches for people who actually use them: robust automatic movements, generous water resistance, nothing precious. Rivenmark makes the kind of delicate, everyday jewelry — 14k gold, freshwater pearl, color gemstones — that quietly becomes a favorite. And Atelier Côte brings a French sensibility to dress watches: slim cases, guilloché dials, restrained elegance. Dress watches only, no jewelry.

Boston and Burlington

We opened the Burlington store in 2017. It's smaller than the Boston flagship and runs more on appointment, but the selection is the same and so is the approach. The founders summer in Vermont, which is part of how Burlington happened in the first place — it started as somewhere to be when the city got hot and turned into a second home for the business.

What to expect when you visit

There's no pressure here, and no one works on commission. Come in, sit down, ask whatever you want. We'll pour you a glass of water, pull a few things out, and let you try them on for as long as you'd like. Take pictures. Compare. Leave without buying — that's a normal Tuesday for us. The piece you end up with, if you end up with one, should be one you've actually thought about.

Come visit either store, or have a look through the watches and jewelry we carry. Either way, we're glad you're here.
